ambush
July 19–September 1, 2024
Opening reception
Saturday, July 20, 3–5 PM
Turley explores the experience of contemplating a word until it loses all meaning and form by way of Evan McGraw’s solo exhibition ambush. In these dynamic calligraphy works, common words transform from linguistic information into a visual onomatopoeia.

Evan McGraw
McGraw crafts handwritten works on paper that cross the prescribed boundaries of the Western calligraphy tradition. With a well-tuned alphabet influenced by italic and gothic hands and rendered with a monastic devotion, McGraw's practice harmonizes randomness and emotional energy with technical mastery in a diaristic process.
